BIO
I’m Adriaan van Rysselberghe, grew up on the island of Texel in the Netherlands. From childhood I went with my father to the water. However, he did try to keep me and my younger brother Dorian (NED8) of windsurfing as long as possible. This is not succeeded. Dorian and I have become quite addicted to the windsurfing virus.
I started windsurfing when I was 11 years old. First we surfed alone on the island, then competitions in the rest of the Netherlands and later also in the world. I’ve done many different disciplines of windsurfing. Now I do only what I really like. That’s Slalom and Wave. The marathon Texel is a real challenge. You then all conditions that you may encounter in a race against the surfer on the water.
By windsurfing virus I have chosen to do a sports training. Now I give movement class at a special school on the island and I have my own business where I offer personal training.
I think that windsurfing must remain a sport where the youth is the future. This makes the Wadden Team was formed. This team has produced many good surfers and helps young talents to the top.
Windsurfing is a way of live for me. If it blows my thoughts go to the water, where I then can really let off steam. Fun is still my big drive to get back on the water, material testing create a wave ride. Windsurfing gives me a sense of freedom.
